Advice About Your Medication
Speak to your Community Pharmacist
Your local pharmacist is a medicines expert and can help with many questions without you needing to contact your GP surgery.
They can advise you about:
-
How and when to take your medication
-
Whether to take your medicine with or without food
-
How to use your medication correctly
-
Missed doses
-
Taking different medicines together
-
Common side effects
-
Over-the-counter medicines
-
Storing your medication safely
For many medication questions, your community pharmacist should be your first point of contact.
Side Effects or Concerns About Medication
If you think your medication is causing a side effect, a community pharmacist can often advise you about common or expected side effects and what you should do next.
If your symptoms are concerning, getting worse, or you think your medication needs to be reviewed or changed, please contact Southend Coastal Surgeries through Anima for clinical advice.
Do not stop taking prescribed medication without advice from an appropriate healthcare professional, unless you have been given specific instructions to do so.
Urgent Medication Advice
If you need urgent medical advice and the surgery is closed, contact NHS 111.
NHS 111 can advise you on what to do next and direct you to the most appropriate service.
