Do I Need a GP Appointment?

Getting You to the Right Care

You don't always need to see a GP to get the help you need.

At Southend Coastal Surgeries, our wider healthcare team and local NHS services can often provide advice, treatment or support without you needing a GP appointment.

Choosing the right service can help you receive care more quickly and keeps GP appointments available for patients who need them.

Pharmacy First

Your local community pharmacy can provide advice and, where appropriate, treatment for a range of common conditions, including:

  • Sore throat

  • Earache

  • Sinusitis

  • Infected insect bites

  • Impetigo

  • Shingles

  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in eligible women

You may be able to receive treatment directly from the pharmacy without seeing a GP first.
